ROHS certification

ROHS certification

RoHS is a compulsory standard formulated by EU legislation. Its full name is "restriction of hazardous substances". The standard has been formally implemented since July 1, 2006. It is mainly used to standardize the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products, so as to make them more conducive to human health and environmental protection. The purpose of this standard is to eliminate lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (Note: the correct Chinese name of PBDE refers to polybrominated diphenyl ethers, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers is wrong) in electrical and electronic products. It is emphasized that the content of lead should not exceed 0.1%.

RoHS directive No.: 2011 / 65 / EU

In general, six items are required to be tested in European ROHS 2011 / 65 / EU, and ROHS directive takes effect.

There are six RoHS detection items for non-metallic materials, including lead (PB), cadmium (CD), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr6 +), polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).

The RoHS detection items of metal materials include lead (PB), cadmium (CD), mercury (Hg) and hexavalent chromium (Cr6 +).

Scope of application:

There are 27 EU Member States: France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Cyprus, Hungary, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania.

RoHS directive covers the electronic and electrical products listed in the catalogue below AC1000V and DC1500V

1. Large household appliances: refrigerator, washing machine, microwave oven, air conditioner, etc

2. Small household appliances: vacuum cleaner, electric iron, hair dryer, oven, clock, etc

3. It and communication equipment: computer, fax machine, telephone, mobile phone, etc

4. Civil installation: Radio, television, video recorder, musical instrument, etc

5. Lighting fixtures: fluorescent lamps and other lighting control devices except for household lighting

6. Electric tools: electric drill, lathe, welding, sprayer, etc.

7. Toys / entertainment, sports equipment: electric car, video game machine, automatic gambling machine, etc

8. Medical equipment: radiotherapy instrument, ECG tester, analysis instrument, etc

9. Monitoring / control device: smoke detector, thermostat, factory monitoring and control machine, etc

10. Vending machine

Classification of ROHS certification:

1. RoHS chemical test: suitable for single material components or finished products with very simple material

2. RoHS chemical test + scanning: it is applicable to the products with complex materials and the parts of the whole machine whose RoHS passing condition is unknown, which need the whole machine test or find out

3. RoHS scanning: it is suitable for products with complex materials and limited testing budget

4. RoHS integration: it is applicable to the situation that there are many materials in the machine and the parts of the machine have ROHS test reports. The cost is lower and the cycle is faster.
